Alice Wilman
Singer, Vocal Coach and Choir Leader
Alice Wilman grew up in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. She is a BA (Hons) Music and Theatre graduate from the University of Hull. She graduated with a 2:1 in July 2014. Alice has Grade 8 ABRSM in singing.
Alice has been involved in many choirs over the years - she was in her local church choir from the age of nine and then joined the Gloucester Cathedral Youth Choir (with Robert Houssart, then later, Ashley Grote) in 2006 where she was a dedicated singer right up until she left for university in 2011. In 2010 Alice was in the Gloucester Three Choirs Festival Chorus and the following year took part in the Three Choirs Festival Youth Choir and sang Beethoven's Mass in C at Worcester Cathedral.
When Alice was a student at Hull University, she was a member of the University Chapel Choir, the Contemporary Choir and formed a female close harmony trio called The Thwaitlettes.
Outside university, Alice sung with The Choir and Orchestra of Invitatione, conducted by Rachel Poyser, where she sang in Mozart's Coronation Mass in Beverley Minster.
Perhaps most recently, Alice has sung with the choir of Musica Deo Sacra; a choral festival that takes place in Tewkesbury Abbey every summer. This includes a week of intense rehearsals and very challenging repertoire. Membership of this choir is by invitation only.
More recently, Alice has become Musical Director of two choirs based in Hull; one is Bilton Singers Community Choir - comprised of people from the village who all have a passion for singing. The choir is limited ability, but all members share a love of music. The second choir is part of a charity called Catch 22, who support young people between the ages of 16 and 25. The choir has been formed to give the young people a hobby and a focus, and is proving to be a great success.
